Arizona has plenty of beauty for those looking to avoid snow in the winter.

Updated: Feb 6, 2022

The McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers breath taking views and some competition level mountain biking as well. This is just one of many parks local to the Phoenix area. Actual campsites are offered but require advance booking to ensure availability.

“Still cold enough for snuggling in the evenings, but not a sign of snow in sight.”

Other regional parks in the area with campground services include White Tank Mountain Regional Park, Usery Mountain Regional Park, Cave Creek Regional Park, Lake Pleasant Regional Park, and Estrella Mountain Regional Park.

Campground offer both pluses and minuses

Campgrounds do require some preplanning in most cases because the conveniences and amenities that they offer attract more people to the area. While not required, having access to restroom and shower facilities can make camping out even more approachable for first timers and those looking to minimize site preparation and campsite wrap-up. Remember to pack out what you pack in, to ensure these areas are available to future generations.

Campgrounds book up quickly and can be somewhat crowded depending on the campsite layout and the number of guests visiting at the same time.
